Peapods are a symbol of new life. They represent a new beginning and hope for greater things to come.  The peapod necklace is a favorite gift for mothers and grandmothers with the number of pearls/peas representing number of children, grandchildren or siblings.

This unique necklace is made by creating a mold directly from a peapod in a process similar to lost-wax casting.  Instead of using a hand carved model, the artist uses an actual peapod to make a mold.  As it is heated, the peapod burns away and leaves behind a beautifully detailed mold of itself.  The finish is achieved using a soft patina on bronze and then accented with fresh water pearls.
